Hiking backpacks with a volume of around 30 litres are ideal for day trips or trips that will be a few days long. They offer enough space for everything you need for walking – a drinks bottle, rain coat, snacks – you can easily and comfortably store five to eight kilograms of items in them.
Hiking backpacks of 40 litres and above are ideal for weekends, stays in log cabins and Alpine tours. You can store several days’ worth of clothing and provisions in them. These backpacks usually have many practical pack pockets e.g. for pack covers, hiking poles, reservoirs and more – when fully packed, they quickly reach eight to ten kilograms in weight
Hiking Backpacks are one of the three broad types of backpack.
